About Matchup Index
Matchup Index answers one question: how have two teams done against each other, all time? It covers 11 leagues, 877 teams and 17,015 matchups. Every pair of teams that ever played has its own page with the all-time record, the longest streaks, the biggest wins, every meeting by season, and the record split by home and away.
Where the records come from
Each record is computed from individual game results, not copied from a summary table. A matchup page shows which seasons it covers, so a series with gaps in our data says so instead of quietly reporting a smaller total. Team names follow the franchise: a team that moved or was renamed keeps one record, and its former names are listed on the page.
Results are updated as games are played. The records currently include games through October 27, 2026.
Who runs it
Matchup Index is made and maintained by Andy Carnevale. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any sports league or team. Team names belong to their owners and appear here only to identify them.
Sister sites
Matchup Index shares its records of teams, seasons and games with ImperialismMap, which maps the territory each team "owns" for every season, and VenueStats, a directory of stadiums and arenas.
Corrections
If a record looks wrong or a game is missing, please tell me through the Contact page with the address of the matchup page and what it should say. A source helps, especially for older games.
